The Stem Cell Network and the American Society of Hematology Acknowledge the Leadership of Guy Sauvageau in the Field of Stem Cells and Cancer Research

The Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer (IRIC) is pleased to announce that its Chief Executive Officer and Scientific Director, Dr. Guy Sauvageau, is the recipient of the 2009 Till and McCulloch Award. Granted annually by the Stem Cell Network, the award recognizes the year’s most influential peer-reviewed article by a Canadian stem cell researcher. Guy Sauvageau’s paper, A Functional Screen to Identify Novel Effectors to Hematopoietic Stem Cell Activity, published in the April 2009 issue of Cell earned him the award.

Recognition of Guy Sauvageau's stem cell and blood cancer expertise also comes from beyond our borders. The American Society of Hematology (ASH) has appointed Sauvageau 2010 Chair of the ASH Scientific Committee on Stem Cells. Dr. Sauvageau will be a guest speaker at the ASH Annual General Meeting to be held in New Orleans (Louisiana) next December 5-8, 2009, where he will give a conference entitled Manipulating Stem Cells for Therapeutic Expansion.
