Research topic and relevance
Martine Raymond and her team study the yeast Candida albicans. This opportunistic pathogen causes severe infections in immunocompromised patients and often becomes resistant to antifungal treatments. Her research uses genetics, genomics as well as molecular and chemical biology to elucidate the mechanisms responsible for multiple drug resistance and to develop new antifungal therapies.
