Following her studies in the field of Pharmacy, Trang Hoang became specialized in biochemistry. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Lausanne, in Switzerland, in 1980. After three years of postdoctoral training at the University of Cambridge in the U.K., under the direction of H. Waldman, she continued her training in Canada by joining E.A. MuCulloch’s laboratory at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research in Toronto, where she worked until 1985.

The Investigator then began her research career, a path that started at the IRCM. In 2003, along with other Investigators, she contributed to founding what later became IRIC.

Hematopoiesis and Leukemia

Trang Hoang and her team study the molecular mechanisms that allow multipotent hematopoietic stem cells to be maintained or to differentiate themselves into specialized cells that form the immune system. Their work makes it possible to understand the mechanisms involved in the formation of acute leukemias.
