The Proteomics core facility provides a protein identification service. Protein separated by gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE and 2D gel) are subjected to are subjected to tryptic digestion and subsequently analyzed by nanoliquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry.The platform was designed to maximize throughput analysis while having the ability to detect small amounts of peptides (20 fmol). The primary purpose of the platform is to enable the identification of proteins in 1D gel bands. Users may provide samples to be separated by gel electrophoresis in our laboratory or submit 1D bands directly for analysis. Also, protein expression profiles and identification of targeted post-translational modifications (phosphorylation and glycosylation) are possible through research collaborations. If the analysis by gel electrophoresis is not desired, samples may be resolve by two-dimensional chromatography combining ion exchange chromatography and reverse phase chromatography. The platform will also provide training to students and postdoctoral fellow of IRIC for sample analysis by nano-LC-MS/MS.
