Claude Perreault Receives the Prestigious Bernhard Cinader Award from the Canadian Society for Immunology (CSI)

It’s in Banff, Alberta, that Dr. Claude Perreault, haematologist and Principal Investigator at the Institute for Immunology and Cancer (IRIC) at the Université de Montréal, received the Bernhard Cinader Award. He received this award on April 9, as part of the 30th Annual Conference of the Canadian Society for Immunology (CSI) during which he gave a presentation entitled “Know Thyself.”
The CSI presents this award annually to a Canadian researcher showing excellence in immunology. In Dr. Perreault’s case, the CSI paid homage to the breadth of his career, his significant contribution to the fight against cancer, and his mentoring of the next generation of scientists. The recipient must also demonstrate a keen interest for other fields, which is why the jury highlighted Dr. Perreault’s passion for the evolution of life and ideas and for the recent developments in the interactions between humans and artificial intelligence.
The Bernhard Cinader Award was named in honour of Dr. Hardy Cinader, the award’s first recipient 30 years ago, who is considered as one of the “creators” of immunology in Canada in the 1960s.
Since Cinader was also a passionate patron of native Canadian art and artists, CSI decided to always present this award to an exceptional immunologist who also displays a passion for another field, whether it be teaching, the arts, research outreach, or writing.
