Marc Therrien elected member of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences

Marc Therrien, Principal Investigator in the Intracellular Signalling Research Unit and Chief Executive Officer of IRIC, as well as Full Professor in the Department of Pathology and Cell Biology at the Faculty of Medicine of the Université de Montréal, joins the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS) as a new member. A total of 47 new members have been elected to the CAHS for the year 2025.

This prestigious appointment reflects Marc Therrien’s undisputed leadership in health sciences research. Throughout his career, he has advanced excellence in research, training, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. Among his many scientific achievements, his work on the RAS-MAPK pathway has particularly caught the attention of the community, transforming our understanding of this signaling pathway involved in cancer, promoting the discovery of new inhibitors, and leading to the establishment of strategic partnerships with industry.

Through his determination to make a difference for the benefit of all, Marc Therrien continues to increase the global influence of cancer research conducted at IRIC and UdeM. A visionary, it is the pursuit of the famous “Eureka!” moment that drives him to roll up his sleeves day after day and always look ahead.

Election to the Academy, determined by peers, is one of the highest honors bestowed upon the Canadian scientific community.
