Meet Edouard Williams Brunet: a young ambassador dedicated to the cause!

Published on October 8, 2025

IRIC had the opportunity to speak with Edouard William Brunet, co-chair of the Jeunes Philanthropes Committee of IRIC. Diagnosed with cancer in his early twenties, Edouard wants to give back by raising funds for research. IRIC is proud to highlight this inspiring individual.

Can you briefly introduce yourself?

My name is Edouard Williams Brunet, I am 27 years old and I am co-chair of the Jeunes Philanthropes Committee of IRIC. I am a former university alpine skier and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance from McGill in 2021. After two years in investment banking at RBC Capital Markets, I now work in life sciences investments at Investissement Québec.

Why are you involved with IRIC?

In 2020, I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and received a stem cell transplant that same year. On November 2, I will celebrate five years of remission, for which I am very grateful. IRIC is a real gem here in Montreal, and my involvement is a way for me to give back and contribute to the advancement of research.

Why is it important to donate to cancer research?

Because without funding, research cannot move forward. Every donation, no matter how small, has a real impact on discoveries and on patients. Donating means directly participating in saving lives.

How does the the Jeunes Philanthropes Committee of IRIC hope to make a difference in the fight against cancer?

We want to rally the next generation around a cause that affects us all in one way or another. The committee organizes events that provide concrete support for research at IRIC.

What is your wish for the future of cancer research?

That research continues to offer hope to those who need it. That today’s discoveries become tomorrow’s treatments.
