IRIC’s Gala Audace: $1,130,000 Raised for Cancer Research

Published on June 1, 2026

On May 21, the 2026 edition of the Gala Audace, hosted by the Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer (IRIC) of the Université de Montréal, took place. Thanks to the generosity of more than 300 guests gathered at Marché Bonsecours, our valued donors, and our sponsors, a remarkable sum of $1,130,000 was raised to support cancer research at IRIC. In addition to this tremendous mobilization, a major contribution of $3 million was made by exceptional partners, including the National Bank of Canada, as well as William Brock and members of his circle, to support the recruitment of elite researchers.

“This year’s Audace Gala was full of emotion and surprises, and certainly one of the most memorable yet! It brought together all the key players who are making a difference for the future of cancer research, and it is thanks to everyone’s support that the Institute continues to stand out for its commitment to remaining at the forefront on all fronts. “I would like to thank everyone who was involved, directly or indirectly, in making this evening a success,” said Marc Therrien, Chief Executive Officer at IRIC.

The Importance of Recruiting Talented Researchers

Masterfully hosted by Anne-Marie Withenshaw, the event provided an opportunity to learn more about the cancer research taking place at IRIC and the importance of recruiting top-tier talent for the years ahead. IRIC aims to recruit the best talent in cancer research from around the world to build a team with exceptional firepower to combat this scourge.

Through a talk-show-style interview with the ambassadors of the Audace event and video testimonials, attendees were made aware of the collective effort needed to make a real difference in the fight against cancer.

IRIC extends its heartfelt thanks to its donors, volunteers, partners, and allies in the scientific community, without whom this event would not have been possible. Special thanks to our sponsor, Quebecor, and to our service partners, Groupe Olivier and Expert’Ease.
