IRIC, located at the heart of the Université de Montréal campus, operates according to a model that is unique in Canada, combining basic research activities, a university training program and a research commercialization team under one roof, so that its discoveries advance knowledge and can be rapidly translated into new therapeutic solutions for cancer. Your day-to-day challenges
- Reporting to the Unit Director, you will be responsible for managing large-scale scientific projects and a team of chemists. You will also be responsible for various mandates relating to the Unit’s administrative management, development and sustainability.
- Determine the scientific orientations of large-scale projects and the choice of major research directions and provide scientific leadership during the course of a project by deciding on any necessary reorientations in response to issues encountered.
- Manage a team of chemists, fostering the deployment of their talents and their development in a stimulating and inclusive environment.
- Manage relationships and act as the main contact with internal and pharmaceutical partners in the management of scientific projects under his/her responsibility. Represent the unit on committees and institutional visits.
- As an expert in his/her field and manager of scientific projects, prepare and lead executive meetings for academic and pharmaceutical leaders.
- Directs and participates in the writing of scientific reports related to his projects, scientific articles and collaborates closely in the writing of government grant applications for his Unit’s chemistry component.
- Play an active role, in collaboration with the Unit Director, in developing self-financing plans and establishing partnerships.
What it takes to succeed in this position
- Ph.D. in organic chemistry (or related field)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, in French and English
- Minimum 7 years’ relevant experience, at least 3 of which in coordination or personnel management
- Basic knowledge of intellectual property
- Basic knowledge of biology

- An annual salary of between $81,183 and $118,856, depending on your experience
