Sébastien Lemieux was trained in both biology and computer sciences, earning a PhD in computer sciences from Université de Montréal in 2002, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in the pharmaceutical industry. He joined IRIC in 2005.

Since arriving at the institute, he has contributed to numerous productive collaborations with his IRIC colleagues, notably within the Leucegene program, whose bioinformatics efforts he has led since 2008. He also serves as scientific director of IRIC’s bioinformatics platform.

His laboratory develops bioinformatics algorithms and artificial intelligence methods for the analysis of transcriptomics, proteomics, and high-throughput chemical screening data, with fundamental and translational applications aimed at supporting the development of new therapies. He is an associate academic member of Mila, scientific director of Calcul Québec, and director of the undergraduate bioinformatics program at Université de Montréal.
